User Manual

The complete reference for the PromptMeGood workstation. Every panel, every control, every shortcut. If you only have 60 seconds, read the Quick Start Guide instead.

1. Overview

PromptMeGood is a browser-based prompt workstation. Every feature runs at /app. There is nothing to install. You do not need an account to use the free tier.

The marketing site lives at /; the workstation lives at /app. Returning users are auto-redirected from / to /app; append ?stay=1 to the URL to override.

All work is local-first. Your prompts, picks, and saved items live in your browser's localStorage. Only the inputs you submit to AI features (text prompts, image briefs, uploaded images for the Image Workshop or Reverse Engine, video briefs) leave the device — they go to the AI provider over HTTPS, are not retained on PromptMeGood servers, and are never used to train models.

2. The chassis

The workstation has three parts:

  • Topbar (52 px) — brand, ❓ Help, 🗄️ Vault, ⚙️ Settings, Upgrade.
  • Module tabs (44 px) — Text Prompts · Photography · Video. Tapping a tab switches the visible panel.
  • Body — a 2-column workspace (1fr 1fr) on desktop, stacked on mobile. The left column is your builder; the right column is the result.

3. Text panel

The default panel. Designed for ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini, plus the in-app GPT-4o runner.

3.1 Your idea

The big textarea on the left is the only required input. One honest sentence is enough — for example, "Write a cold email to a SaaS director about our new analytics tool." A microphone button (where supported) lets you dictate it via the Web Speech API.

3.2 Analyze My Idea (Auto-Tune)

Tap Analyze My Idea and PromptMeGood reads your sentence and pre-fills the tuning panel: category, skill level, tone, output format, max length, output language, and personality. Picks are clamped to a safe enum on the server. You can change anything afterwards.

3.3 Tune Your Prompt

Below the idea field, the 🎛️ Tune Your Prompt section holds the dropdowns. On phones it is a tap-to-expand accordion (the badge shows how many picks are active). On desktop it is always open.

3.4 Generate My Prompt

Tap ✨ Generate My Prompt. The right side reveals your structured prompt with explicit Role / Context / Constraints / Tone / Format / Next Steps, plus a strength score showing how complete it is.

3.5 Run With AI

Beneath the result, Run With AI executes the prompt in-app with GPT-4o and shows the response inline. Free-tier users have a small daily cap on Run With AI; see §10.

3.6 Auto-Boost

The ✨ Auto-Boost Prompt button rewrites the result for maximum strength. It first asks 0–2 clarifying questions in an inline card; you can answer them or skip. Boosted output replaces the result and the strength score jumps to 100%.

3.7 Money Mode

A toggle in the tuning panel that biases output toward sales, marketing, and conversion-focused phrasing. Available to all tiers.

4. Photography panel

Switch to Photography. The left column is your image builder; the right column is the generated image.

4.1 Image Workshop

At the top of the left column, drop a JPG / PNG / WEBP up to 10 MB. Pick one or more enhancement chips, add an optional note, and tap Enhance Photo. Powered by OpenAI gpt-image-1. Returns a PNG you can download or save as SVG (the raster wrapped in an SVG <image> tag).

Enhancement chips: Upscale · Color Pop · Cinematic Grade · Remove Background · Restore Old Photo · Day↔Night · Vector Style · Anime · Oil Painting · Watercolor · B&W Film · 35mm Grain · Studio Lighting · Clean BG · HDR.

All chips run under a "preserve subject and composition" guardrail.

4.2 Reverse Engine

The 📸 Reverse Engineer an Image button under the Photo goal field reads any reference image with GPT-4o vision and returns a usable image prompt plus matching Photo Suite picks (style, camera, lighting, composition, palette). The picks are auto-applied; you can override anything before generating.

4.3 Photo Suite

Below the Photo goal field, the Photo Suite groups your tuning pills:

  • Style
  • Camera & Lens — Focal Length · Body · Aperture (Depth Of Field) · Shutter (Motion Blur) · ISO (Sensitivity) · Film Stock (Color & Grain)
  • Lighting & Mood
  • Composition
  • Camera Angle — 10 angles
  • Color Palette
  • Aspect

Quick Pick presets sit above the groups in a tinted card; tap one and it sets the whole suite at once. 🎲 Surprise Me rolls every group. On mobile the suite is collapsed behind a "🎛️ Tune Your Image" header so the Build button stays visible.

4.4 Pro Tuning

Below the Photo Suite, ⚡ Pro Tuning exposes three sub-sections: Quick-Start presets, Pro Boosts (toggleable directives), and Modes (checkboxes). Each Boost / Mode appends a directive to the final prompt.

4.5 Build & Generate

Tap ✨ Build My Image Prompt to assemble the prompt from your picks. The refined output appears in the field; you can edit it. Tap Generate Image to send it to the model.

4.6 Result row

After the image lands, a row of actions appears under it:

  • 💾 Save — adds the image + prompt pair to your Vault.
  • 🔁 Regenerate — same prompt, new seed.
  • 🧬 DNA Card — composes a 1080×1350 PNG of the image plus the originating prompt and brand stamp. Pure-frontend; no server.
  • ↗ Share — opens the Web Share API where supported.

5. Video panel

Switch to Video. Layout mirrors the Photography panel.

5.1 Your video idea

One sentence describing the scene or sequence. The Photo Suite is replaced by Sora-style controls.

5.2 Sora pills

Single-select pill groups for: Shot Type · Camera Movement · Camera Angle · Mood & Lighting · Style · Focus Depth · Movement Easing · Duration · Resolution.

5.3 Pro Tuning

Same three-section structure as Photography, with directives tuned for video (Scene / Movement / Pacing).

5.4 Storyboard

Tap 🎞️ Generate Storyboard to turn your idea into a 5-shot cinematic storyboard. PromptMeGood writes the panel descriptions and renders up to two of the panels as images in parallel. From the modal, tap 🎬 Send to Video Studio to switch back to the Video panel and prefill the goal field with the multi-shot prompt.

Note: The Storyboard reads your video idea from the Video panel's goal field. If both the Video goal and the legacy text goal are empty, the Storyboard button shows an inline warning instead of opening the modal.

5.5 Generate Video

Generate Video calls the AI video endpoint. On the free tier this prompts an upgrade card pointing at the Founding Member waitlist; paid plans run the generation and embed the resulting clip on the right side.

6. Prompt Vault

Tap 🗄️ in the topbar to slide in the Vault drawer from the right. Everything you save on this device — text prompts, image prompts, video prompts, and DNA cards — lives here, in your browser's localStorage. No account is required for the free tier.

6.1 Saving

Each panel has its own save action: 💾 Save Draft below the result on the Text panel, 💾 Save in the post-generate row on the Photography and Video panels, plus 🧬 DNA Card on Photography (which saves the image + originating prompt as a 1080×1350 share PNG). Saving fires a small "Saved to vault" pulse on the topbar so you have visual confirmation.

6.2 Inside the drawer

  • Search across saved entries by keyword.
  • Tag, favorite, and group entries to organize your library.
  • Compare two prompts side by side to see what differs.
  • Export / Import the whole Vault as a JSON file — your migration path between browsers and devices.
  • Clear a single entry or wipe everything.

6.3 Open, close, and empty state

Open with the 🗄️ topbar icon. Close with Esc, the × in the drawer header, or by tapping the dimmed area outside the drawer. If you have not saved anything yet, the drawer shows a friendly empty state ("Your Vault Is Empty — Generate a prompt and tap 💾 Save Draft to keep it here for later") so you know it opened correctly.

6.4 Storage and portability

Because storage is per-browser localStorage, switching browsers, switching devices, or clearing site data wipes the Vault. Use Export / Import to move it. If you sign in for a paid plan, you can opt in to cloud-backed account storage so the Vault follows you across devices automatically.

7. Expert Command Center

Tap ⚙️ in the topbar at any time, on any panel, to open the Expert Command Center as a side drawer. The main builder stays exactly where it is — the Center sits on top so you can move between deep tools and your draft without losing state.

7.1 The five tabs

  • Diagnose — strength score (0–100), word count, weaknesses, and a checklist of missing context (role, audience, format, examples, success criteria).
  • Engineer — toggle role, audience, format, examples, success criteria, and other context fields as Off / Auto / Custom. Auto means the AI fills it in for you; Custom lets you write it yourself.
  • Tune — fine-grained behavior sliders (verbosity, formality, creativity, etc.) plus tone presets.
  • Variations — generate Fast & Simple, Detailed & Strategic, and Bold & Persuasive versions of your prompt in one shot, side by side, so you can pick the strongest framing.
  • Save — store reusable workflows and presets you can re-apply on future prompts.

7.2 Open, close, and re-entry

The drawer opens from the ⚙️ gear, the in-flow "Expert Mode" link, or anywhere else that calls Expert Mode. Close it with Esc, the × in its header, or by clicking the dimmed area outside it. Re-opening always returns you to the tab you were last on. Apply changes back to your main draft with the "Apply" button on each tab — there is no auto-write, so you can experiment freely without disturbing the prompt in the builder.

7.3 Pricing & beta access

The Expert Command Center is a paid feature for Founding Member ($79 one-time, lifetime, first 500 buyers) and Pro ($9/mo) plans. During the open beta — through June 1, 2026 — everyone can use it for free. After that, free-tier users tapping the gear will see a paywall card with links to Pricing; the rest of the workstation remains free.

8. Voice & Brand Voice

  • Voice input — where the browser supports the Web Speech API, a microphone button on every goal field lets you dictate.
  • Brand Voice Profiles (Pro) — store recurring tone, vocabulary, and constraint sets so every generated prompt uses your brand's voice automatically.

9. Keyboard & URL flags

10. Limits & pricing

Daily caps per plan (subject to fair use):

Free3 / day1 / day1 / day
Founding Member ($79 one-time)30 / day15 / day10 / day
Pro ($9 / mo or $79 / yr)60 / day30 / day20 / day

The structured Prompt Builder, the Photography Suite, and the Vault have no caps. See the Pricing page for the full breakdown.

11. Troubleshooting

  • Generate button does nothing. The idea field is probably empty or your browser blocked localStorage. Type a sentence; allow site storage.
  • Image / video generation says "limit reached." You have hit the daily cap for your plan. Wait until the next UTC day, or upgrade.
  • Reverse Engine fails on my upload. Check the file is JPG / PNG / WEBP and ≤10 MB.
  • The Vault drawer is empty. The Vault is per-browser. Switching browsers or clearing site data wipes it. Use Export / Import to move it.
  • Voice input is missing. The Web Speech API isn't available in every browser. Try Chrome or Edge.
  • Anything else. Email support@promptmegood.com with the steps you took and a screenshot if possible.
